This new Summit Spa features Virtual Reality, Salt Room Therapy

SUMMIT, NJ — My Mind Well, a new “MedSpa” that recently opened its doors at Summit, takes wellness to a whole new level — from infusion therapy that can cure the most horrid hangover to a virtual reality Experience that calms the hangover mind.

dr Narveen Dosanjh – the founder and CEO of My Mind Well – is a board-certified physician and psychiatrist who practiced in Manhattan for many years before deciding to open a company in Summit that combines science with holistic medicine.

“I wanted to get out of the city somehow,” Dosanjh said. “And then I found myself in New Jersey, [wanting] … bringing this very unique inclusive model to the New Jersey area.”

This inclusive model is evident in the variety of services My Mind Well offers. People can take advantage of traditional relaxation and spa treatments such as: B. a massage therapy with CBD creams, or they can undergo a psychiatric session with a licensed therapist.

Dosanjh said there aren’t many wellness spas that combine things like psychiatry with salt room therapy and yoga in one place. Specifically, Dosanjh said that My Mind Well’s Himalayan salt room is the only one in the New Jersey area.

According to the spa’s website, the origins of salt room therapy — or halotherapy — date back to medieval times, but researchers have only recently begun to study its potential benefits. A device called a halogenerator breaks up salt into microscopic particles and releases them into the air.

Once a person breathes in, these salt particles are said to help absorb irritants — including allergens and toxins — from the airways. Proponents of salt therapy say this process breaks up mucus and reduces inflammation, resulting in clear airways.

“When you are in the Himalayan salt room, you will feel like you have just been to the beach,” Dosanjh said. “It’s very relaxing [and] de-stressing.”

While in the salt room, Dosanjh said, people can get any treatment they want, whether it’s a massage or an integrated wellness consultation. During these consultations, therapists assess what type of service a client may need.

For example, if someone is deficient in certain vitamins or nutrients, they may suggest IV therapy, which is the intravenous administration of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients directly into the bloodstream. My Mind Well offers a variety of infusion options, from a hangover cure that rehydrates the body to an immune boost that reduces inflammation.

To reduce stress, Dosanjh said virtual reality therapy, which is based on meditation and mindfulness, can be beneficial. Patients have over 40 lush environments to escape from through the virtual experience, and Dosanjh said she combines this with a neurostimulation device that is placed on the head to calm the nervous system.

“It’s what you would need when you say, ‘I’ve had a stressful day,'” Dosanjh said. “And of course, the first thing we all do to recharge our batteries is a glass of wine. Sometimes there are better ways to deal with it, and what’s great about it [virtual reality] is that you get a very powerful sensory experience.”

The MedSpa also offers meditation and mind-body kinetics, a type of neurogenic yoga designed to heal and release stress, pain, and trauma throughout the body.

My Mind Well is located at 35 Beechwood Road in Downtown Summit. To learn more about their services, visit their website.
