Inderkum High School student basketball player Anthony Williams was killed in a crash at Rocklin

A Sacramento senior and basketball player from Inderkum High School has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and killed on a street in Rocklin over the weekend. Anthony Williams died in Saturday’s accident, Natomas Unified School District spokeswoman Deidra Powell confirmed Sunday. This was William’s first year at Inderkum. He was previously a student at Whitney High School and other schools in Rocklin. “We are deeply saddened by the devastating loss of Anthony Williams, a student athlete who attended Inderkum High School,” Powell said. “Anthony joined the Inderkum family this school year. In this short time he has made a positive contribution to the school on and off the pitch. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and all who they knew and loved him.” The Inderkum basketball team said in an Instagram post that they were “devastated by the loss of our family Anthony Williams.” “Please keep Anthony and all who love him in your hearts and “Prayed,” the post reads. “Family forever!!!!! , Rocklin Police have said. The driver is said to have cooperated with the investigation. Rocklin Police on Sunday referred KCRA 3 to the Placer County Coroner’s Office. In meanwhile, candles and a photo commemorating Williams were seen at the crash site on Sunday evening.Natomas Unified plans to have grief counselors and chaplains on the campus of Inderkum High School on Monday.The Rockl in Unified School District also released a statement Sunday night saying it would be offering counseling services this week. “It is with a heavy heart that the Rocklin Unified School District mourns the loss of a former student, Anthony Williams, who was involved in a tragic accident over the weekend,” the district statement said. “Anthony attended elementary school, middle school and his first three years of high school at Rocklin Unified. Although he may have attended a different school during his senior year, Anthony has had a positive impact on many RUSD students and staff. Whitney High School and the Rocklin Unified School District will be providing additional counseling services for students and staff this week as we all process this loss.”

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Lonetree Boulevard and Adams Drive when a driver struck a pedestrian, Rocklin Police said. The driver is said to have cooperated with the investigation.

Rocklin police referred KCRA 3 to the Placer County Coroner’s Office on Sunday.
