Find the Best Online Bachelors Degrees in Alabama

In the halls of higher learning, eight Alabama colleges and universities are offering online undergraduate programs that rank among the best in the country, US News and World Report reported Jan. 25.

US News unveiled its best online programs after ranking 1,651 undergraduate and graduate degrees, the most in its 10-year history. Rankings are provided for 361 institutions, many of which tied in the 2022 survey.

Yellowhammer State’s premier institutions for online bachelor’s degrees include Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM), Talladega College, Troy University, University of Alabama, UAB, University of North Alabama, University of South Alabama, and the University of West Alabama.

Alabama’s higher education system consists of 78 colleges and universities. US News annually ranks schools based on their performance across a number of widely recognized indicators of excellence—including graduation rates, faculty credentials, and remotely available support services—in national rankings of the best online undergraduate programs.

Here are the best colleges in the state for online bachelor’s degree programs.

UAB – No. 29

UAB’s online bachelor’s degree is valued among the top 30 best programs. US News online rankings are based on expert opinion on program quality and statistical indicators that measure a school’s faculty, research and students. UAB ranked highly in the categories of Best Online Bachelors Degree, Best Online Bachelors Degree for Veterans, Best Online Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and Best Online Bachelors Degree in Economics.

University of Alabama – #47

The University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, which has offered online courses since 2005-06, ranked 47th out of 361 for best online undergraduate programs. The university received top individual rankings for Best Online Bachelors in Business, Best Online Bachelors for Veterans, and Best Online Bachelors.

University of South Alabama – #68

The University of South Alabama at Mobile has offered online degree programs since 1998-99. Health and related programs are the top ranked programs in the university.

University of Troy – No. 101

Troy University received high rankings in several categories: best online bachelor’s degree in psychology, best online veteran’s bachelor’s degree, and best online bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Troy received top marks for his online bachelor’s degree programs in Criminal Justice/Security Studies and Business and Management.

University of North Alabama – #183

The University of North Alabama at Florence launched its online undergraduate programs in 2006-07.

US News ranks UNA’s online bachelor’s degree in business 98th nationwide. The university scores highly with its online offerings in the areas of Registered Nursing, Health and Medical Administration, and Business Administration and Management.

AUM – No. 211

AUM has been offering its online bachelor’s degree for eight years. Students must apply by August 1st for consideration this year.

AUM online students can find excellent Nursing and Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician training opportunities.

Talladega College – tied to No. 275

Talladega College has been offering its online bachelor’s degree for four years. Online students will find excellent offers in business administration and management.

University of West Alabama – tied at #275

The University of West Alabama at Livingston has been offering online undergraduate programs for 18 years. Online courses are recorded and archived for students to conveniently access materials.
